Harmony Hollow-Body Electric Guitar

Item # 0001110

Early '60s. Mainly sold through Sears & Roebuck catalogues and department stores in the US South, they're rare these days and in demand for their sound.

A single cutaway Rocket model (alternately the Vibra Jet). The neck and intonation are true and it has a low, easy action.

In good nick with a bit of wear and a little crack at the top of the headstock. (Love that big headstock.) Fitted with Ibanez machine heads.

In open tuning with treble it can almost sound like a resonator, but with warmth. The pickups have butterflies inscribed on them, don't know if they're the originals, but they have great tones and twang.

The "Uptown Funk" guy Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lilly Allen, Tame Impala producer) says, "The Harmonys weren't the fancy high-end stuff, but being made in 1960 they're going to smoke anything made today. The guys I work with are musicians, they're young, and they love these guitars and tones from that era."
